Merlin and Arthur's epic love continues to make me ridiculously happy. I mean. LUDICROUSLY giggly, I can't even tell you!
Okay, so I'm not ridiculously happy that Merlin's magic is still secret - seriously, someone has to know by now - but everything else about that episode? I loved seeing Merlin's town and his mother and learning (a little) about his past and how he was before he came to Camelot. And I liked the whole "we must learn to fight together" and "defending our homes!" because, well. It's a sort of theme of a lot of medieval stories/myths, and it makes me stupidly giddy.
Mostly, however, I loved that everyone went with Merlin. Okay, so the reasons were a wee bit contrived, and clarly it was just an excuse for "Four Go On An Adventure", but I don't care because I love the four of them teaming up. Regardless of pairings, there is a sense that the four of them know that they can trust each other and they *want* to help each other, and have I mention the STUPIDLY HAPPY this show gives me? I can't even say anything clever about it.
Also! Constumes were fab, particularly for Gwen and Morgana - and Gwen and Morgana were kick-ass too, standing up for themselves and fighting. I like the way the show gives us Gwen-the-carer and Morgana-the-intelligent and shows them both to be strong and capable of fighting. And also blantantly in love. *nods*
And of course, Arthur and Merlin and made of legends, and the scene with the armour and the amount of trust Merlin has in Arthur and Arthur doesn't want to let him down, and over all this, they are so snarky and silly with each other, and they make me melt.
Which brings me to 1x11, and the stupid squeaking noises I was making during the poisoned chalice scene. Okay, so we've already done the "I'm-willing-to-die-for-you/no-I'm-totally-willing-to-die-for-you" thing (Hello there, 1x04) and the whole thing was a little bit Princess Bride, but my boys. And Merlin pleading for Arthur's second chance and trusting Arthur to be good enough to overcome this and knowing that Arthur would rather die than let his people suffer. And Arthur trying to keep Merlin out of harms way, but obviously, OBVIOUSLY going to fail, and just. So fucking happy, you guys!
And next week, lesbians! (Hopefully)
