ink_splotch: (loving this fandom a whole lot [subtext])
I am looking for things to do until I go back to England, and what better than a meme to fill that time?

Give me the names of two characters and I will tell you why character A loves character B. I might answer with a drabble, a quick bit of meta, or a list, just to make things that tiny bit more OMGSOEXCITING!

It is a truth universally acknowledged that it doesn't matter whether I ship slash, het, threesomes or incest, my pairing will never become canon. Even when it is bleedingly obvious. ARGH! The pairing even got a nod on the show, only to get shot down again (well, two nods if you count MY FAVOURITE MOMENT OF THE SHOW EVER. Uhm. Okay, possibly one of my favourite moments, as the show is awesome, but still. Gnah. I thought I was going to cry, which only proves, as Gemma says, that I am very, very silly.)

Cut for the Vicar of Dibley, spoilers for every thing )

In other news...my bad mood seems to have abated somewhat, which is excellent. I'm crediting Monday/Tuesday. Mmhm.

In other, other news: this language project can go fuck itself.

So, because I haven't been to the movies in ages, I went to see The Queen with Cathrine today in the Leicester Odeon, which was great fun; we Time-Warped at the bus stop. It was quite, quite awesome. Cathrine has a startlingly high-tolerance for my weirdness and let's me sing, dance and *glee* all over the place. It's quite, quite wonderful - she's great fun.

But that is neither here nor there - the point is the movie.

A Review of the Queen: Or how Chris finally found an odder pairing than Jesus/Judas )

Also, TORCHWOOD trailer before the movie! Oh, be still my heart. How cool does that show look? Doctor Who meets Criminal Minds and all lead by Capt'n Jack Harkness. Oh yes please. I went to see Rocky Horror Show Friday (and it was amazing - I even got up and time-warped)and Rocky looked like a bleached John Barrowman, which set off Doctor Who pangs - and all this was made worse by the fact that I invested in Hey Mr. Producer which also stars Barrowman (and his, uh, hips).

Though he is upstaged by JULIE ANDREWS who shouldn't be as hot as she is; Bernadette Peters, glorious as always; Stephen Sondeheim and Andrew Lloyd Webber; Judi Dench, who can *sing*; and the wonderful, the hilarious, the *brilliant* Tom Lehrer, singing Poisoning Pigeons in the Park. I'm quite overcome with glee.

A short RL update: am sick, am slightly stressed, am poor, am at times homesick and lonely, but am overall happy and pleased with life.

Stolen off [livejournal.com profile] myhappyface.

The rules:

1) 13 characters. (We set a limit of 10, then I said "Well, we could do a dozen," then Betty said "We could do a baker's dozen." So.)
2) We stuck with FP characters.
3) There's a built-in cheat: SOs. They get to come along for the ride without being included in the actual list, sort of like in-laws. (Because I made up the rules, and I've always thought that if I get Ray Kowalski, that automatically means I get Ray Vecchio, too.)
4) SOs must truly be SOs - those people you feel OTPish about, or at least see as life-partners/soulmates - what they call someone's "lobster" on Friends. Not just a date or an attempt on your part to get extra characters. This does not mean it has to be a canon pairing or even a fandom-favorite pairing, as long as some circumstance has made them a lobster in your fantasy headspace.

I copied [livejournal.com profile] myhappyface's idea of talking more about why I ship the characters than why each is my favourite.

Here we go! )
Off the top of my head, I can't come up with more OTPs. I mean, I love Abby, but I can see her with lots of characters. I've got a new-found craving for Izzie/Addison (from Gray's Anatomy), but OTP is going a bit far there. And then there's Dan/Duck, which I did kind of want to write up as well, because I love Dan. And Duck. But I haven't been in fandom that long, I don't feel comfortable talking about it ;)

Apparently, icons happened. This is partially because I'm hoping to set off a Nick/Greg effect, though if Derailed, The Popular Kids and Someone's Watching aren't enough to start a pairing off, chances are they're never going to get anywhere. It's weird - I could've sworn there was an internet law that said if two vaguely attractive men are seen in more than one scene, slash will be written about them. But I seem to have hit on the one fandom where that doesn't work.

Makes me wish I was a more profilic writer, so I could *make* fic appear, á la [livejournal.com profile] carolinecrane's Nick/Greg mission. However, since I'm not, I made icons ).

Which I'm not that good at either, but hey - I kind of like 'em.

The thing about Morgan/Reid is, well, in this season? It's mostly UST. Because Morgan is all kinds of fascinated by and protective of Reid, even though he doesn't quite understand why - and he certainly doesn't understand Reid; so he sort of tease-and-flirts, partially keeping his distance and partially getting closer. And the fun of it is, Reid doesn't have a clue. He likes Morgan and trusts Morgan - see also The Popular Kids - but he's pretty lost in general human interaction, has no clue what Morgan's teasing really is and he definitely doesn't get why people are fascinated about him, least of all Morgan.

Not to mention it's implied that Reid's incredibly inexperienced. Which could be fun to explore. And now I have this image in my head. Dammit.

Now, if only Danish was this much fun.

And bonus poll! )
In other news, can someone please figure out how I can fit the Harlem Renaissance into either between war period, or America 1750-1914? For my history assignment? Pretty, pretty please?

My DVD player went in for multi-regionizing today, but apparently it was not bought in Fona. Which it was. Ergh. Oh well, it just needs to be fixed before the 6th (have I mentioned I adore you lately, Tess?)

In dorktastic news, Freya's dance school did a dance to 'Seize the Day' in the mid-90's. I take this as further proof that Freya and I were meant to be. Miss you, hon *cuddles*
