Let's talk about Dawson's Creek.

Yes.

It's showing now, on DR1 here and so, yeah, I've been watching. You have to understand, Dawson's Creek is a pretty big deal for me; it's the first show I watched "religiously", it's the first show I truly *cared* about. I *loved* the show and despite mocking it, calling the last seasons crap, being disappointed again and again, particularly with the last episode(s), I still love it. It is the essence of teen drama for me, and you can take your Beverly Hills if you want, but I'll be at the Creek.

So seeing it again has been pretty interesting. I mean, when I first started watching Dawson's Creek I was a prentious, self-indulgent 12-or-maybe-13 year old, who thought Joey was the be all and end all of the world. And I also thought Dawson was pretty cute. Now, I'm watching as an arguably still pretentious and self-indulgent person, but an older one, and it makes a difference. 'Cause now? I "get" it. I can laugh at Dawson being so ridiculously pretentious (and like him depite of it), I can understand why Jen feels so left out (and dammit, I can still get angry at the treatment she was given), I can understand why Joey is such an overachiever (and critize her and still adore her). Different things click for me now - Andie (and man, I have such a crush), Pacey, both of them are more real to me now. I dislike Jack more than I originally did.

And hey, I realize, this stuff has layers. Because yeah, it's serious, and yeah, it's a drama, but at the same time - we're being poked at. Kevin Williams is poking fun at us - gently, mind you - because puberty (which, yeah I'm nowhere near out of, but closer now than then) is funny. And it hurts and kills and makes you want to throw-up, but when you look back? It's pretty funny. Because we, like Dawson, are prentious. Because we, like Joey, take ourselves too seriously. Because we, like Andie, think everything is *so* important. Because we, like Jen, believe the whole hype about teens too much. Because we, like Pacey, make mistakes and think it's the end of the world.

And you know. We all bounce back. Just like them. And that's it. That's why I like the show. That was what I came for. That's why I can still watch today. Because even though now-me knows that whether or not Jack ever comes out of the closet, whether or not Dawson and Jen figure each other out, whether or not Joey and Pacey ever get together, the world will go on, it's still fun to watch, because they *don't* know that. And neither did I, first time around.

And that hurts, but hey, it's pretty nice, too.

Going to see the Edukators tomorrow with Rasmus, that should be good. Right now, though, I think I need sleep. Like whoa.

And possibly do history.

Heh. I say let's talk. I mean let me talk. *g*

But you should watch an episode or two. It's actually an okay show.
