You know when you're in fandom and you're sort of a late comer, there's always one episode everyone talks about which is THE BESTEST! or the SLASHIEST! and you can't wait to see it?

Then you see it, and it's just not. It's not what you expected?

I've been in fandom for a while. Twice has the purported wonderful episode/scene exceeded my expectations. The West Wing, In the Shadow of Two Gun Men, and now M*A*S*H, Out of Sight, Out of Mind.

Hawkeye: "BJ?"
BJ: "Yeah?"
Hawkeye: "Visit me a couple of hundred times, will ya?"
BJ: "At least."

I've learnt not to get my hopes up about that. Instead, I squee. Loudly. At the things *I* like. So there is really no bad.

I get my hopes up. If I didn't expect fandom to cheer me up, I wouldn't be here.

Mostly, I was just commenting on how much I *love* my new -maybe-not-exactly-shiny-but-whatever fandom! Because Out of Sight, Out of Mind was as sweet, well written and slashy as I thought it would be. Where there's a will, there's a war is still my favorite episode so far, but this was supposed to be the BJ/Hawk episode, and it's exceeded expections. So I was very happy :-)
