Because I am a genius person, I almost dragged my bed down into the cellar today. I'd been told that the delivery date for my new bed (OMG YAY, new bed soon!) was tomorrow - however, a quick inspection of my email revealed that, actually, my bed isn't arriving until the 4th of June. Hurrah for double checking! (Albeit after I actually stripped my bed and cleaned my room in preparation for the new bed. So smart.)

Speaking of general genius, today was my first exam. It went as these things tend to - I felt like I could have written a lot more than I did, much more coherently than I did, but I feel like the problem is more the format of the exam, than my own performance. Yes, I suppose I could have done more work, but on the other hand, I knew what I was talking about, and I knew how to get it across. Just not in the time alloted to me. So it goes, and I've resigned myself to the possibility of getting a 2.2 for the course. I'm still hoping for a 2.1, but I can accept a 2.2.

The important thing is that now I can forget all about the Restoration period, and instead turn my mind towards my twin loves of Renaissance history and Sir Thomas More. And possibly also to medieval literature and the madness of Margery Kempe, which is proving rather more entertaining than it probably should be.

As if to reward me for surviving my exams, two rather wonderful pieces of fic appeared today on [livejournal.com profile] jpkieron; clearly someone somewhere loves me, because this is a fandom with notoriously bad writing in it. This actually annoys me rather a lot. I think the source material is better and richer than that of As the World Turns, but ATWT has an amazing bunch of fanwriters, and Hollyoaks, well. Not so much, shall we say? And not just the JP/Kieron side either; I've dipped my toe into the pool of JP/Craig and it doesn't get any prettier.

However, I'm not really complaining - who needs fic when the source material is so hot and dramatic. Particularly the last clip and the kiss; they're so flawed and hurting and John Paul's sadness breaks my heart. Also everything! You mean everything. I'm such a sucker for this melodrama.

Unrelated to anything: I haven't been able to get We Rule the School out of my head for days now. I'm not sure what it is about it particularly that moves me so much, but I can't stop humming it over and over. In general, I'm obsessing over Belle and Sebastian - have been for the past three months, but it's flared up again quite dramatically during my revision and now the song is stuck in my head.

Saturday I watched Eurovision with housemates and honorary housemates (i.e. Gemma and Bean), which was awesome and far too funny. Also, it was decided that I'm the perviest of those present, which I think is incredibly wrong; T is infinitely pervier than me, and I think E and Bean are more than me as well, I'm just less discrete about my kinks.

Also, T, Bean and myself got in a water fight. Well, I say got into - I was mostly an innocent bystander who got soaked. And had ice cubes thrown at me (though so did Gemma, and collectively Gem, Bean and I managed to get an ice cube down both sides of T's pants.)

Between these hjinks, we laughed at the contestants, with Terry Wogan and predicted Russian victory well ahead of time. There was much discussion of glitter, wind machines, the voting blocks and how England always fails.

T'was ace.

Life, you guys. Life.

Despite the fact I've never seen a whole episode of Hollyoaks before, had never seen any of it before you started posting clips actually, I now ship JP/Kieron. I have since trawled through Youtube to get the full story, and now I am utterly in love with them.

Yay! I can't believe I've managed to convert someone - go team me!

They are rather ridiculously addictive, aren't they? I can't believe I've been following this storyline for three months now, and I'm still not bored.

Hahahaha. Oh, Chris. Only you, only you. (By the way, if play.com sends you three packages? HAPPY BIRTHDAY! Although they've apparently only shipped the one at this point.)

Regarding music: Empires apparenly has their new album up for download (free) at their web page, so I'm going to see if I like them. When I, like, get the time.

*retroactively crosses fingers for you*

I am so special, you know? (YAY PRESENTS! ♥)

Oooh, yay! That's "The Life Pursuit" isn't it? Not their best, in my opinion (that's definitely "Dear Catastrophe Waitress"), but particularly "Dress Up in You" is excellent.

Also, you should download "Piazza, New York Catcher" and "If You're Feeling Sinister". You'll love them.

Thankee!

I know. (HOPEFULLY. *pokes play.com* Send, dammit! Send!)

No, it's their new album - Howl. I'm three numbers in, and I'm really digging it, actually.

Hahaha, honey. You made me download the first one last time you came to visit, remember? But I'll definitely look the other one up.

*cheers Play on*

Downloading as we speak.

The other one is amazing (once you get used to it; I kind of hated it the first time I listened to it and then slowly the line "try in vain to take away the pain of being a hopeless unbeliever" just hit me, you know the way lyrics do when they really, really fit? And since then, I've been in love.)

I really hope you like your presents, because I only actually got you one of the things you wanted. Arrive, damn you!

I'm still digging it. :)

Could you maybe send it to me with megaupload or something? Nothing's working here on my end.
