Reading plans

So. I've been reading Maurice, but I haven't been that interested - I know how the story ends, after all; beyond that, the characters just aren't moving me right now, and neither is the writing. I have therefore decided to leave Maurice for a while and concentrate on my other book: Brideshead Revisited (for some reason I've always thought it was a horror story. I'm not sure why). And that is a beautiful book, play-like and with such a lovely style and tone, it just sucks you in. It's so vivid, so beautifully descriptive and yet there is a decided air of restraint - repression, perhaps? - that tints the story and makes it even more moving. Very much recommended.
Apart from that, the election day was set today. I hate you too, Anders Fogh. I would possibly be angrier than I am, but for the good day I've having. Social studies was cancelled, gym was fun, though hard and geography was not spectacularly boring, which means that it was a good lesson. And tomorrow is a short day too; beyond that, Tess & I are going to see Phantom of the Opera, which has got me all excited. I cannot wait to see it which is suprising, considering I'm hardly a lover of the musical.
Well, before I go, I will leave you with this little gem:
First I was afraid, I was petrified!
Kept thinkin' I could never live without you my dear site!
But I spent so many nights thinking how things could go wrong,
I grew strong,
I learned how to carry on,
And now you're back from cyberspace!
I just walked in to find Frank here with that sad look upon his face.
You should have checked that stupid log,
Have used a serviced UPS,
If you'd known for just one second it would cause all this damn mess!
Go on now go! Thrown out the door!
Fall out a window, cause you're not welcome any more!
Weren't you the one that tried to sabotage LJ,
You'd think it'd crumble,
You'd think it'd lay down and die,
Oh no LJ!
You will survive!
As long as you got techs to fix that bastard pow'r supply,
You've got all their lives to live,
You've got all your pages to give,
And you'll survive...
LJ'll survive!
It took all the strength I had not to fall apart,
Kept trying hard to mend the pieces of that broken part,
And we spent oh so many nights just feeling sorry for the shelf,
We had to cry and hold that UPS up high,
And you saw me, to sad too blue,
I lobbed the evil bloody thing into the downstairs loo,
An I laughed at the lovely clunk,
Given by the piece of junk,
And delighted in the rain,
That fell when pulling the chain!
Oh no LJ!
You will survive!
As long as you got techs to fix that bastard pow'r supply,
You've got all their lives to live,
You've got all your pages to give,
And you'll survive...
LJ'll survive!
