ink_splotch: (marvellous adventure with you [girls])

1. I'm going on a date tonight! A proper pick-me-up-at-7-bring-flowers date! This is very exciting for me - I don't think I've been on one of those since, like, America. I know Gemma and I did have dates at the beginning of our relationship, but there were only really two, and those were is-she-interested-or-isn't-she not-quite-dates, so they don't really count. So, first proper date in a good five years! Yay! (Okay, so it probably not a proper date when it's with your girlfriend of over a year, with whom you are for all intents and purposes co-habiting, but that's very much Missing the Point)

1a. I should possibly actually buy those flowers at some point

1b. Oh god, what am I going to wear?

2. 600 words of Critical Theory report, oh yeah! Considering how much this report got to me, I'm quite pleased with the word count. Slightly less pleased that so far I've mostly discussed the linguistic side of the performative, rather the gender studies aspect I'm supposed to be discussing, but it's so much more accessible. So re-reading Butler is definitely necessary. But the important thing - I've started!

2a. One day I will learn that everything about critical theory becomes infinitely easier after talking it through with Becca. Hopefully next time I'll remember it before I have a complete freak-out about not understanding.

2b. Also, tutors are not the enemy. Particularly in critical theory, where my tutor is awesome and helpful and I really shouldn't be vaguely scared of him or tutors in general. No, really.

3. we do not speak of the dissertation.

3a. no, seriously. no speaking.

4. I got unreasonably excited in Medieval Literature today when I realized that Sir Gawain and the Green Knight could be read as a fairytale. And by unreasonably excited, I mean vaguely entertained.

5. What's new with you guys?

6. I HAVE NOTHING TO WEAR, YOU GUYS!

Honey, have I mentioned lately that you're adorable? 'Cause you are. Also, I'm fairly certain you could show up in burlap, and Gemma would tell you how beautiful you looked.

(Well. First she'd mock you, a little. *Then* she'd tell you. I'm just saying.)

What's new with me is - I hate my job and I need a new one! I hate my job and I need a new one! There are no other jobs that are as flexible to be had! So I will keep on hating my job for some time yet!

But otherwise, nothing much. ♥

Hee, thank you! *grins* Though I seem to have gone one better than a burlap sack *grins*

I will *bond* with you over shared job hate, although I'm pretty sure you're worse off *hugshugshugs* I wish I could invent a job that would a) challenge you and b) amuse you and c) pay ridiculously well. Because you are awesome and should not be dragged down by the stupid that is your job.
*snuggles*

I thought you might have. *grins at your adorableness*

I'm fairly certain my pay is better than yours, though.

Hee!

Everyone's pay is better than mine. But I don't hate my job most of the time, so it kind of evens out better for me than you. In my mind ;) Though I would *love* to have your salary. ;)

Well, I wish a better salary on you every day, really. New jobs, that's what we need.

I wish a better job on you. I don't like how much it gets to you - you deserve much better. New jobs, for both of us. Preferably at a bookstore or as translators ;)

(which makes me wonder whether any of my lecturers need research assistants. And if they'd have to be master's students. Hmm)

It only gets to me because I'm unsatisfied and *bored*. The people I work with are lovely, I've even got tons of lovely regulars (who remember when I tell them I'm going on vacation and ask me how it was!), but. It's time for me not to be doing this anymore.

Besides, I just found out that my lovely boss just gave notice. *shrugs*

I've sorta halfway made up my mind to give my own notice at my earliest possible convenience. That way I'll leave at the end of April and have my peace in May and June, which are exam months. I could get by with my savings and my SU until after that time, and then I could maybe find something else.

And if I don't, I could not, at the moment, care less.

That makes sense; I'm sure you will find something else sooner than you think. *sends job-finding vibes*

Am vaguely applying different places (read: Waterstones) in the hope of getting a job where I can just work Saturdays and have done with it - working during the week is seriously messing me up.

Thank you. Now I just have to, you know, actually *do* it.

Actually, I could see how that could work out for you. I'm not crazy about working every weekend, but I've also never tried it without also working weekdays as well, which might definitely alter one's perspective.

Well, I work 10 hours which isn't much, but spread over three days, which with travel + uni + Gemma + friends doesn't leave a whole lot of time for me to just kind of...gather myself? I'm not really complaining, I'd just like my life to be a little more organised.

I believe in you, Sofie!

10 hours spread out over 3 days is a little... odd. Two days would make more sense, wouldn't it?

*grins* I'm glad someone is!
