Why must Trapper be so cute and angsty? Why must he, as a character, push pretty much every button I have? Why is season 3 so thoroughly *made* from awesome? The characters are finally *all* there; the relationships have consistency, but are still being explored; they've finally got a somewhat constant balance between the personal and the universal; and it's damn slashy.

All this brought on by the fact that [livejournal.com profile] cesperanza wrote 38 Minutes, an absolutely beautiful piece of fanfiction that reads like canon. Very much recommended.

Also brought on by the fact that industrialization continues to be boring as hell.

I always wince when I come across a nation's period of industrialization in history, and am generally reminded of that line from The Vampire Lestat, where Lestat says, essentially, fuck this, I'm going for a nap.

Which is my response to both industrialization and puritans, strangely enough.

It is *so* boring. Economic theory makes me want to *cry*. Lestat has the right idea.

Ah, industrialization. Ruining the life of sudents everywhere since, um, the 1800s. Or so. Depending on where you are and what mood you're in. The socks you're wearing. The light. Your supplies. And, not to forget, your textbook. Yay.

Industrialization starts in 1800. No, 1815. No, after the 1848 revolutions. No, it depends on where you are in Europe. No, industrialization is an on-going process right back from the 1600s. No, INDUSTRIALIZATION NEVER TOOK PLACE OMG!

*kills everything*

(i want my nation-building back. at least that's *interesting*)
