ink_splotchI am not really in the Christmas mood, at all, due to reasons I'd rather not get into. So instead! Cute, fluffy Christmas recs for you! By which I mean the two of you who actually share my taste in fics.
Anyway!
Popslash:
Five is possibly my favourite popslash fic I've read in this round of obsession. I have it archived as "the *Nsync family fic", because that's what it is. It's Justin's point of veiw as the boy gather to record a fourth album - and even though there is JC/Lance, it's just...it just is; the focus of the fic is the *family* feel.
Graduation is being recc'ed possibly only for this line: Then again, it wasn't like Lance had ever denied that being in the group was a lot like sleeping together without the actual, say, intercourse.
Again, JC/Lance pairing; the plot is that Lance has decided that he's going to college. And so he does, with all that comes with that in terms of angst about his worth, angst about his grades, angst about his homework, and oh yeah, angst about whether or not he's leaving his friends behind. Which might sound depressing, but manages to be sweet and fun and still ring true. *So good*
The Wedding Cake Theory or the penguin fic-cum-soap opera. Just read; it's so good and it has PENGUINS! Penguins make everything better.
X-Men
Yes, people, I have become an X-Men fan (well, always been a bit of one in the tv/movie genre, particularly Evolutions).
First stop is Imaging the X-Men, a gorgeous "coffee-table-book" of the X-Men. A good introduction to a lot of the characters and wonderful pictures. Contains nudity.
Throw My Head Away is a coming out story, a coming of age story and it's just wonderful. Bobby [Iceman] has several conversations with several people. And it's just...it's funny and poignant and just captures Bobby so damn well. READ.
Event is just sweet and real and funny. It's set in X-Men movie verse, concerning Bobby and Hank [Beast]'s first meeting. The Bobby-voice is so good, and makes him a good deal more interesting than I find him in the movie and Hank's just wonderful.
Finally, because I can't quite just rec happy fics, Handbasket, a fic that'll convince you that you are going to hell for enjoying it. Though you will enjoy it. Underage, lonely, needy Bobby and Hank trying to deal with the Lolita complex he's getting. The rest of the team are still present, the emotions are real and the writing style is awesome; the story itself manages to be gutwrenchingly hot, while still heartwrenching and sweet and hurting. It's so good, I promise.
And bonus rec! Newsies
and possibly i like the thrill is the best Christmas fic ever, closer to poetery than a fic and it just makes me happy and giddy, because it's just that pretty and just that perfect. So go, enjoy Javid Christmas morning snuggles!
And now I think I'll go to bed and hope I wake up in a better mood. If I don't get online tomorrow [though you know I will]:
