NOT MY TOSH, WHY? Seriously, why? My Tosh! Died! Bled out on the floor, right there on TV. It was horrible.

I actually thought the episode was quite well done overall, particularly if you ignore the whole Gray subplot and just think of him as generic-villian-#6, which I do. Adored John Hart's return - I'd forgotten how much Marsters can act with his eyes; he completely sold me on John Hart's motivation (though, hi, I was already sold on it in episode one, so might be slightly slanted here) and his screwed-up, completely uncontrollable relationship with Jack. Well played! Loved the team being the team again without Jack. They can totally work without him! And it makes me happy! Rhys's presence through-out was a good touch, he's so down-to-earth and trusting, it provides a nice counterpoint to the team freaking out and despairing. Ditto Andy as comic relief and peanut gallery - Torchwood really should use him more.

Less than impressed with their writing of Gwen in this episode. Also not impressed with the total prioritizing of the Jack/Gwen/Ianto triangle - apparently, to survive in Torchwood, having a crush on Jack is necessary (hence John, Gwen and Ianto get locked in Weevil cages, while Owen and MY POOR TOSH save Cardiff and die in the process. Sob.) Didn't really care about Gray and Jack. At all. (My housemate and I amused ourselves by counting "make-out moments" between Jack and Gray. As she said, it's the only frontier left for Torchwood. Mwahaha.) Sometimes Barrowman's acting is downright painful to watch.

Owen and Tosh were amazing, though. Absolutely amazing. And I can't believe they died. I mean, I don't really think Owen died (boy can't stay dead!), but still. It was well-written and dramatic and a little funny ("I'll rage my way to oblivion!" Oh, Owen, you dork!) and very, very sad. Particularly Tosh, trying so hard to save everyone and being unable to save herself and the person she was closest to. Woe. And her goodbye was everything I love about Tosh - practical, sweet, a little clumsy and very simple and elegant.

I can't believe they killed her. Stupid show.

(Also, now Torchwood has one competent person on the team. And that's really only because Ianto and Gwen are half a competent person each. Next season is going to be hilarious.)

In other news: DOCTOR WHO TONIGHT, WHOO!

(Also, one of my housemates is on LJ and I'm torn between wanting to hunt her down and friend her, and friendslocking absolutely everything on this journal. Hi, I'm sane! She is a Torchwood-watching, Jack/Ianto-shipping, Doctor/Rose-squeeing fangirl, so I'm not sure there's anything on this journal that'd shock her. Hm.)
