While you're waiting for the Oscars (and I know you are, don't you lie to me), go read [livejournal.com profile] hackthis's ridiculously funny George Clooney RPS/RPF fics, starting with The Incredibly True Adventures of Four Stars, Two Actors In Love, and One Gay Landmark. You know you want to. Because it has Jake Gyllenhal, George Clooney, Brad Pitt and Ari - the coolest motherfucker ever. Follow it up with Going to the Chapel (of Holloywood Love), wherein George gets nominated for an Oscar.

Back to the Oscars, then!

BEST PICTURE
Brokeback Mountain - Brokeback Mountain is definately most likely to win. And I wouldn't mind if it did - I like all the nominated movies.
Capote
Crash
Good Night, And Good Luck - However, this is my choice. Good Night, and Good Luck is a beautiful movie, and it's *McCarthy* and journalism and civil rights, and I *love* it.
München

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

ACTOR IN A LEADING ROLE
Philip Seymour Hoffman, 'Capote' - For preference, just because PSH is a completely underrated actor and Capote is said to be wonderful because of him
Terrence Howard, 'Hustle & Flow'
Heath Ledger, 'Brokeback Mountain'
Joaquin Phoenix, 'Walk the Line'
David Strathairn, 'Good Night, And Good Luck'- However, DS owned his role, and I'd be through the roof if he won, as well

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

ACTRESS IN A LEADING ROLE
Judi Dench i 'Mrs. Henderson Presents'
Felicity Huffman i 'Transamerica' - Because Felicity Huffman rules.
Keira Knightley i 'Pride & Prejudice'
Charlize Theron i 'North Country'
Reese Witherspoon i 'Walk the Line'

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

ACTRESS IN A SUPPORTING ROLE
Amy Adams 'Junebug'
Catherine Keener 'Capote' - Because Harper Lee herself applauded her performance, and because I want to see Capote do well. And 'cause Catherine Keener is hot.
Frances McDormand 'North Country'
Rachel Weisz 'The Constant Gardener' - Rachel Weisz is amazing, and deserves accolades aplenty
Michelle Williams 'Brokeback Mountain'

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

BEDSTE MANDLIGE BIROLLE
George Clooney, 'Syriana' - Actually, I want him to win for Good Night, and Good Luck, but he's not nominated for that role, so I'm throwing him the Oscar for this instead
Matt Dillon, 'Crash'
Paul Giamatti, 'Cinderella Man'
Jake Gyllenhaal, 'Brokeback Mountain' - Because Jake Gyllenhaal is amazing in the role, adorable in real life, and because I want to see if he brings/thanks Austin.
William Hurt, 'A History of Violence'

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

BEST DIRECTOR
Ang Lee, 'Brokeback Mountain' - Again, I wouldn't mind if Ang Lee won.
Bennett Miller, 'Capote'
Paul Haggis, 'Crash'
George Clooney, 'Good Night, And Good Luck' - Sensing a theme, yet? He deserves it, though - GNaGL is wonderful in so many ways, and so many aspects, and the work he did to bring it to the screen just wows me.
Steven Spielberg, 'München'

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

BEST ANIMATED PICTURE
Howl’s Moving Castle
Tim Burton’s Corpse Bride
Wallace & Gromit in the Curse of the Were-Rabbit
I don't care. They are all three a world of awesome.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

FOREIGN PICTURE
Don’t Tell
Joyeux Noël
Paradise Now - Because I think the Israel/Palestine conflict is incredibly *important* and it's important to see it from both sides. It's bland and a cliche, but sometimes I think you have to choose by importance, rather than quality
Sophie Scholl - The Final Days
Tsotsi

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

DOCUMENTARY
Darwin’s Nightmare
Enron: The Smartest Guys in the Room
March of the Penguins
Anyone of the above three would be awesome.
Murderball
Street Fight

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

ADAPTED SCREENPLAY
Brokeback Mountain, Larry McMurtry & Diana Ossana - Well, yeah. Awesome adaptation
Capote, Dan Futterman
The Constant Gardener, Jeffrey Caine
A History of Violence, Josh Olson
München, Tony Kushner and Eric Roth

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

ORIGINAL SCREENPLAY
Crash, Paul Haggis & Bobby Moresco
Good Night, And Good Luck, George Clooney & Grant Heslov - Do I have to say anything?
Match Point, Woody Allen
The Squid and the Whale, Noah Baumbach
Syriana, Stephen Gaghan

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

ORIGINAL SCORE
Brokeback Mountain, Gustavo Santaolalla - the music for BBM is so well chosen for the movie and the moods and you have to love that
The Constant Gardener, Alberto Iglesias
Memoirs of a Geisha, John Williams
München, John Williams
Pride & Prejudice, Dario Marianelli

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

ORIGINAL SONG
In the Deep fra 'Crash'af Kathleen “Bird” York and Michael Becker
It’s Hard Out Here for a Pimp fra 'Hustle & Flow' af Jordan Houston, Cedric Coleman and Paul Beauregard
Travelin’ Thru fra 'Transamerica' af Dolly Parton - On principle, because it's Dolly Parton, dammit.

In other news: Chris is not allowed to drink ever again. Ugh. I blame my weird mood yesterday.

Now, I'm off to russle up about 15 litres of coffee and I'll see y'all on the red carpet in two or three hours (staying up all night again? hell fucking yes)
