i closed my eyes, drew back the curtain

I'm having a sort of madly serene day. I've cleaned my room, there's food in the fridge and I have most of my classes figured out. It's just all good, like all the tension from Christmas and exams week just got sept away yesterday and now, now life is good. Also, I haven't mentioned this in a while (at least it feels like I haven't), but I? Am madly, madly in love. I don't even get it. I just am. And although the upcoming anniversary is making me a little jumpy (what if she doesn't like my present? What if it seems too serious too soon? What if I'm a compulsive worrier?), particularly yesterday with Gemma was just so good and peaceful in a way that I haven't been in a while. Mmm.

In other news

It seems quite a few people didn't like Cpt. John, which makes me sad, because I loved him madly, everything from the stupid Star Wars joke (yay, sci-fi jokes!) to the way he kissed Jack goodbye at the end (because he really does love Jack! But he can't change! And also he's sociopathic! And he hates himself! I may be reading slightly too much into Torchwood!). I mean, that moment when Jack leans in as if to kiss John and John's face goes all heartbroken when he doesn't. Also picking off the team one-by-one, and his taunting of them was both amusing and anger-inspiring. Don't pick on the team just 'cause you're jealous, John!

Also, I know it was pure cheese, Gwen's speech when they all come back to shoot John, but I was all flaily. My team! And how awesome were the team moments? From the moment in the car at the beginning, with the teasing and the sarcasticness, but also just *working* *together*. And I liked how it didn't stop, how they were still effective together after Jack came back, like when they were saving Gwen. That was awesome, all of them taking on their own roles and just *working*. Also, their protectiveness of Jack, even though they were annoyed with him.

And really, I just loved the entire episode, I don't even have any quibbles (actually, that's a lie - I didn't like that Gwen/Jack moment all that much, because I ♥ Rhys and I don't think Gwen/Jack works; I also didn't approve of Owen/Tosh, because ick, and also because Tosh deserves better. And because I'm still hoping for that Tosh/Martha, oh yes.).

Everyone was amazing, and Gwen, oh Gwen, being all in charge and competent and fun, even though she clearly still feels vulnerable and Jack's departure hurt her. And Ianto, fun and snarky Ianto, rather than emo!rats-in-stomach!Ianto. The scene between him and Jack in the office was amazing, and the date thing really works for me, both in the sense that Jack's come to terms with the fact that he's with Torchwood to stay and so he should stop acting like he can leave at any minute and also in the sense that Ianto needs that, he needs to be asked and be allowed some power - it can't just be Jack seducing him. It also works in the sense that Jack needs to make it up to Ianto. But mostly, 'Was that a yes?' JACK/IANTO CANON BABY! Tosh was looking good and was utterly compentently, but I'm hoping she gets a bigger role in future episodes, because I love her lots and she really didn't do much this episode. I did love her comment about John's hotness, though.

And PC Andy! Yay!

In conclusion: Needs more Martha! Also, is it Wednesday yet?

In unrelated news, how long does it take a towel to dry on a radiator?

I totally, totally agree with you; Torchwood *is* ace. *grins* Ianto, you are dear to my heart. ♥

And, quite frankly, I don't think you need to be worried about your anniversary present. Really.

*snugs* Thank you!

Jack's come to terms with the fact that he's with Torchwood to stay and so he should stop acting like he can leave at any minute

So I maybe just. . . watched all of the show in a three-day period, and I completely agree. Jack throwing himself into punches and bullets and holes in the Rift, running after the Doctor, looking for something he's lost -- now he's letting himself be tied down.

Although sadly not in the sexy way.

With regards to your last comment: it's only the first episode, give it time ;)

Exactly! the first season was all about Jack fitting in everywhere but in present-day Cardiff - he fit with Estelle in WWI for example, more than his team. I'd like to think 'Out of Time' got him thinking about this, so his comment to Captain Jack in 1x12 that 'they need me' indicates that he's beginning to realize that Torchwood is where he wants to be. He still needs closure with the Doctor, but by 3x13 of DW and 2x01 of Torchwood, he knows that he wants to belong to Torchwood. And that was probably a slightly long comment just to say, IAWTC.

Awww! I'm so happy for you. Now stop worrying, you'll be fine. :-) *hugs you*

On Torchwood, I agree with everything you said. It was great! The team has really grown into itself, perhaps because the fear of not being good enough without Jack has made them all work harder, and work harder at overcoming their personal issues. Although the Jack/Gwen stuff is really out of place.

And it was just so *fun* and hot and exciting, and it worked! Also, I didn't even think Owen was an arse in the ep!

Oh, and Gwen intending to sacrifice herself to save Cardiff was beyond awesome, even in spite of that awful "tell Jack" moment.

Yes! I was so happy about that moment - Gwen *knowing* what had to be done and doing it, without quibbling or arguing or panicking. Go Gwen! (I am totes ignoring the 'Tell Jack...' moment. Oh, whatev, show. Stop making Gwen less awesome.)

And Owen was likable! Being nice to Tosh! He and Gwen have their banter back! 'Trust me, I'm an improviser'. What the Hell, Owen, way to pull on your big-boy pants! *approves*

In conclusion: Team = Love!

(also, thank you *hugs back*)
