Reccing (a post in three acts)

What have I been doing today(1)? Why, I am so glad you asked! I have been reading
yuletide fic, hanging out on YouTube and listening to my lovely Christmas present music. And here I show you the fruits of all this: A Post in Three Acts.
Firstly, have a naked Python with masturbation article. It's oddly alluring.
Secondly, I've watched this sketch maybe six times now, and it still cracks me up. Judges in corsets! Also Michael Palin grabbing Eric Idle's butt.
Also, I'm kind of adoring the Concert for George clips part one and part two. Leaping from Man to Man!
Did you know that sometimes the boys liked to grope each other?
As we all know, t'is the season for alcohol, so have a drinking song.
NOBODY EXPECTS THE SPANISH INQUISTION!
Ivy Covered Professors in Ivy Covered Halls -- Four Weddings and a Funeral, PG. MINE! ALL MINE! A wonderful first-time fic for Gareth and Matthew with a marvellous Fiona. Bright college days!
A Perfect Fit -- 10 things I hate about you/ Bend it like Beckham, R. It breaks up my OTP (Jess/Jules), but still gorgeous and hot.
Athos' Table -- The Three Musketeers, PG. I was just complaining to Sofie about the lack of good Musketeer slash a couple of days ago, and then this came along. Athos somehow manages to come off as even more repressed in this; huge unrequited thing; poor D’Artagnan. Wonderful UST, love the tone, very keeping with the book.
The Unexpected Affair of the Injured Detective -- Sherlock Holmes, PG. Holmes is hurt and yet somehow it's just incredibly domestic and lovely.
And the city is full of light -- Batman fandom, PG-13. Brilliant! Not a comics geek, but the way this ties everything together is just awesome.
Make Your Own Kind of Music, Beautiful Thing, R. The relationship's not perfect, but it’s something. In character, not sappy, yet sweet.
California Dreaming -- Bend it like Beckham, PG. There's one every year. Fluff-fluffity-fluff. Love it though. There may be an element of over-identifying with regard to this. I love the use of the letter and Joe.
Je tire ma reverence, Brideshead Revisited, PG. Poor Charles. Charles looks back at paintings and drawings over the years, and sees what is missing.
Tomorrow Belongs -- Cabaret, R. The world war is breaking everything, but maybe Brian was broken before then; really, really interesting look at Brian post-movie. Aching.
Burdens Shared -- Jane Eyre, G. I kind of adore this, in character and sweet, almost implying something, but mostly just being *friendship*. An interlude with Miss Temple and Jane.
The Fifth Task -- Classical Mythology, NC-17. The gods are fucked up, the godesses possibly even more so. Pysche/Afrodite; please enjoy the incest-y overtones. Hot, though.
Escape to Freedom -- Narnia-verse, G. Original characters and so good. Talking horses!
Lives by Breaking -- Narnia, PG. There are no happy endings; the Pevensie children growing up, forgetting, remembering, mourning. Beautiful and melancholy and painful.
A Voice for Cinderella -- Malory Towers, G. An exploration of Malory Towers morality, with saffic undertones. Gnah. I love my boarding school fics.
What One Has -- Fables, PG-13. Always loved Snow White and Rose Red, and this…this is just *good*. Fucked up, but what else is new. Fairytales made human.
Wild Honey -- Fried Green Tomatoes baby! Perfection. After coming home, Ruthie and Idgie figure things out.
World Enough and Time -- Thursday Next, PG. A day in the life of Thursday Next.
The Case of the Very Gay Detectives -- Kiss Kiss Bang Bang, NC-17. There is never going to be enough Kiss Kiss Bang Bang fic in the world. Narrational glee, man. And Gay Perry could kick anyone's ass. Also has gratuitous swearing. Yeah, man.
Noir Enough -- Kiss Kiss Bang Bang, R. Yeah, see above. Harry’s narration makes me hot. I need this goddamn movie. Also, one of the hottest scenes this Yuletide is in this fic. I have kinks, who knew?
et in noctibus -- The Lion in Winter, PG. Richard is a hurt, aching, wanting puppy. Philip is evil. So nothing much has changed, really, or maybe it has? Features tapestries.
Korean Nights -- M*A*S*H, PG. Hawkeye and Trapper and sanity, and people, it's damn good M*A*S*H fic. Run! (aside: I really, really love Trapper. Dear.)
Bauching -- M*A*S*H, R. Hawkeye and Trapper are pervs. Pervs, I tell you. And that's why I love them.
Strange Bedfellows -- M*A*S*H, R. My OTP is made from silly. And somehow they still manage to break my heart.
Rx -- M*A*S*H, PG. D’awwww. The boys open their damn eyes after Check Up.
At the End -- Discworld, PG. It's Susan and Granny Weatherwax. Together! Read it!
Don’t Ask, Don’t Tell -- Top Gun, R. Man, Maverick’s an idiot. Charlie and Ice both know it's a competion.
For Wherevere You Go, I Will Go -- V for Vendetta, R. Damn. Dystopia button being pushed so well. And god, Ruth and Valerie. ♥
The Epiphanies of Dan Jarvis -- Wilby Wonderful, R. For once it doesn't work out straight away, but it still works out. It is, after all, Wilby, even if Dan is hurt and slightly bruised and battered. And this is beautiful; about finding out where and why we belong.
Brief intermission: The Tudors Trailer -- I'm a bit...I don't know. I can't decide if I think this is going to be good, or not.
I'm rather in love with Thomas Buttenschøn, who writes these wonderfully jazzy pop songs about the most trivial things; they're lovely. I got the CD from Mikkel for Christmas and haven't stopped listening to it.
November i København
Tømmermænd i Peter Fabersgade -- I love the piano on this one.
Mikkel also got me Take That's new CD, which I'm guessing was a joke, but I'm still rather amused by it. In a good way.
Mancunian Way
Julie Andrews is lovely; and who hasn't been so elated they felt that they could dance all night?
I Could've Danced All Night
And finally, a reminder we all could use:
Every Sperm is Sacred
Thank you for tonight - we hope you've enjoyed the show!
(And now - to bed! To bed!)
(1) well. Today and the past few days. There are limits to the hours of the day)
